Interesting Facts about Sun

It is believed that as a result of Big Bang this universe came into existence. Our sun is not for ever and it has lived up half of its life. It is around for about 4.5 billion years giving life to our planet earth. The current fuel used by sun is hydrogen which is converted into helium through nuclear fusion emitting huge energy. Half of the hydrogen has already been utilized and the remaining half is sufficient for another 5 billion years. Once the hydrogen is finished, it is expected that sum will start expanding and engulf our earth and other planets. Thereafter it will burn for about a billion years and end-up becoming a white dwarf.

Sun is the central point of our solar system around which all the planets of our solar system revolve. Following are the interesting facts about sun:

Mass of sun is about 330,000 times the mass of Earth.

The mass of sun comprises about 99.8 percent of the total mass available in out whole solar system.

Comparing to other stars of our own Milky way and other galaxies, the size of sun is just about average.

Distance between sun and our Planet Earth is about one hundred and fifty million kilometers.

Sun is filled with extremely hot gases.

The temperature at the surface of sun is usually about 5,500 degree centigrade.

The temperature at the core of sun is usually about 15 million degree centigrade.

At the Core of sun, nuclear fusion reactions take place continuously which convert hydrogen into helium resulting in enormous discharge of energy.
